Dusty smacked her lips together as she wiggled on the log. What had she started? She’d never last—she was already incredibly aroused just from watching them strip. She was going to go off like a rocket once they touched.

“Like what you see, sweetheart?” Cain drawled.

  “Oh yeah.”

Cain reached out and tweaked Brynn’s nipple. Brynn gasped, closing his eyes.

“Me too,” Cain replied. “I can’t be soft about this,” he warned Brynn.

Brynn opened his eyes. Dusty nearly cried out at the deep need she saw in them.

  “I don’t want you to.”

“Good.” Cain leaned in and kissed him. Hard. Brynn reached down, his hand surrounding Cain’s cock. Dusty almost fell off her log. Her pussy wept as she watched them. Cain’s hands massaged Brynn’s ass as Brynn pumped Cain’s cock.

“Enough.” Cain pulled back and spun Brynn around firmly. “Do not come without my say-so,” he growled, reaching around to grasp the other man’s cock.

“Dusty, strip and get over here, I need some of your sweet dew.”

Dusty pulled her clothes off with hands that shook. Then she walked quickly toward Cain, who was biting down on Brynn’s neck, his hand working quickly up and down Brynn’s cock.

Brynn had rested his head back on Cain’s shoulder, his eyes closing as he groaned.

“I have never seen anything so hot,” Dusty whispered, coming to a stop beside them.

“Spread your legs.” Cain’s voice was hard. Commanding. She obeyed him instantly.

Cain plunged two fingers inside her sheath, and she swayed, nearly falling. Just as quickly he withdrew them and she watched, completely rapt as he pushed first one finger then the other inside Brynn’s ass.

  “Oh, oh, Cain,” Brynn cried.

“Feel good, my mate?” Cain asked quietly.

  “Yes, yes,” Brynn yelled.

“Then just imagine how my cock will feel. Dusty, I need you to get my cock ready to take his ass. Take me into your mouth.”

Hot despite the cool night and her nakedness, Dusty knelt on the damp ground and took Cain’s cock deep inside her mouth. The salty taste of him hit her tongue, and she swallowed, longing to take him to completion.

But wanting to see him take Brynn more.

  “Enough, baby, pull back.”

  She slowly let him go.

“Good girl. Now watch. Brynn bend over. Take a deep breath.”

Cain parted Brynn’s bottom with his hands as the other man leaned over, resting his hands against the tree trunk before him. Then Cain lined the head of his cock against Brynn’s asshole.

“Let your breath out.” As he gave the order, he pushed himself inside Brynn’s ass.

Brynn yelled—a sound filled with shocked pleasure.

Dusty watched Cain thrust back and forth, his hand moving quickly up and down Brynn’s cock as he worked himself in deep.

“Want to join in, sweetheart?” Cain asked, his voice strained.

  “Please.”

“Lie on the ground and spread your legs.”

She quickly did as he said.

“Brynn, we’re going to move. You’re going to take our woman while I take your ass. First though, you have to reach for my jeans and grab a condom. Then kneel over her. But you can’t lose me from your ass, got it?”

Brynn just groaned and nodded. Amazingly he managed to do it all with Cain lodged inside him. Dusty trembled, sighing in relief as Brynn finally thrust inside her. Then Cain moved. Each time he pushed forward he drove Brynn into her.

  It was amazing, beautiful.

  So very, very hot.

“Do you need to come, my mates?” Cain asked, slipping his arm around Brynn’s body to tickle her clit with his finger. It was nearly too much. She was overloaded with pleasure.

  “Yes,” the yelled back together.

  “Then come!”

Brynn came first, intense rapture stealing over his face and pushing her over the edge into bliss. She soared, barely hearing Cain’s own shout of release.

Cain was frowning as he entered headquarters the morning after Tina’s farewell. It felt as though they managed to go one step forward only to fall two steps back. Sure, they’d found their bomber. But he wasn’t the key player. They still had no lead on the ringleader.

“Right, we all here?” Cooper looked around.

  “Where’s Marcus?” Dusty asked.

“He’s looking after our guest. She’s still at the hospital. He’s staying with her until I can be assured of her safety. I don’t want a repeat of what happened to Edwards.”

Cain hated the thought of a traitor. That there was someone in his pack who couldn’t be trusted.

  “She hasn’t woken?” he asked.

Cooper shook his head. “No, but I’m hoping when she does that she can give us some sort of lead. Nothing was found at the remains of the cabin. What the fire didn’t destroy the humans did. It would have destroyed Mrs. Edwards if Brynn hadn’t gotten there so quickly.”

“Once she wakes up, we can use her as bait,” Reed said coldly.

Unease stirred in Cain’s gut. From all accounts their guest was innocent. To use her as bait…

“We can’t put her in danger,” Laney objected.

“She’s in danger anyway,” Reed countered. “The traitor will be trying to get to her. She’s a threat they can’t leave alive. We just make sure we’re there when they attempt to take her out. If we’re using her as bait then at least we can protect her.”

Everyone looked toward Cooper, who was staring thoughtfully at Reed.

“I agree. We wait until she awakens. She may be able to give us what we need to get these people. If not, then we set her up as bait. Until then, Marcus is guarding her. No one else goes near her. I’m locking down the estate. No one leaves without my permission, not until we find the bastard who killed Tina.”

Everyone in the room stared at Cooper in surprise.

“Are you saying you think one of us is the traitor?” Jesse glared at the Alpha. Cooper stared back, his eyes yellow, his power a thick curtain in the room.

“I’m saying that no one is going to get to this woman. Marcus is in charge of her safety, and this is how he wanted to do it. I fully support him.”

  “Why Marcus?” Devon asked.

“Marcus has some medical training, enough to care for her without extra help if she awakens,” Cooper explained.

He’s also a deadly bastard, Cain thought. No one would get past Marcus.

“Do you really think one of the pack murdered Tina?” Devon asked. The youngest of the enforcers looked sick.

“They got close enough to shoot her. They managed to lure her out of the cabin. Tina was a damn good enforcer. Yeah, I’m pretty sure she knew the person.” Reed’s voice was grim.

“In the meantime, Laney is under house watch. We’ll have to work longer hours. We’ll also stick to working in pairs.”

“I’m bringing in some help,” Cooper said, drawing everyone’s attention. “Two of my brothers have offered their support. They’re trained, and they’re loyal. I know no one wants to bring in outsiders, but we need the help. And of course, we also have Brynn. I take it you’re staying?”

Everyone looked at Brynn. “With an invitation like that, how could I refuse?”

Dusty stiffened, her gaze moving rapidly between Cooper and Brynn. But Cooper merely smiled.

“I can’t welcome you as a member of the pack, not with the attitude you’ve got.”

“Cooper—” Dusty began, but Laney shook her head, and Dusty fell quiet.

“The pack doesn’t like accepting strangers. While I think it’s good for us to deal with change, there has been a lot lately, and too much can be a bad thing. Unlike your sister, who won’t create waves, I don’t think you’re capable of following pack command. No, you’d make a terrible packmate.”

Cain flicked his gaze between Dusty and Brynn. He could see Dusty’
s pain on her face, certain that Cooper was about to throw out their mate.

“No, I don’t think that’s what you want, and it’s not what we want either. However, if you were a friend of the pack, then you’d be welcome to come and go as you please. We’d expect you to consider what we asked of you. But it wouldn’t tie you here.”

Cain took a deep breath. Damn. This was something he hadn’t thought of. Brynn wouldn’t belong as he would have if he had been given the status of packmate, but then how would he have fit into pack hierarchy? He didn’t take orders worth a damn, wasn’t really a team player—outside the bedroom. And he would soon test Cooper’s command. He wouldn’t even have to try. It was his nature.

  But would Brynn agree?

“A friend of the pack?” Jesse asked in disbelief. “How do we know he’s not the one behind all of this? That he’s not the one who shot Tina?”

The room went silent, everyone looking on in shock. Cain’s snarl filled the room.

“Are you claiming that my mate is a traitor? That he would attempt to harm his own sister?”

Jesse gulped, looking a little nervous, but he faced Cain head-on. “I’m just saying that we don’t know anything about him. He had the opportunity.”

“He was with us when Tina died,” Dusty interjected, glaring at Jesse furiously. “He has no motive. All he has done is help us, and you dare to attack him?”

“You may not know Brynn well, but I would think you would trust Dusty’s judgment as well as mine,” Cain said calmly. “Brynn is our mate. He risked his life to get rid of that bomb. Besides, Edwards said it was werewolves who were behind all this.”

Jesse sighed and sat back, running his hand over his face. “Sorry,” he muttered. “It’s just easier to place blame on the new guy, you know? Rather than believe one of our own could betray us.”

“I understand,” Brynn said. Dusty and Cain remained silent. They weren’t going to forgive this attack on their mate so easily.

Cooper cleared his throat. “I think that we are all on edge and not thinking clearly. However, I have watched Brynn around his mates. Have seen the way he talks about his sister and I have sensed nothing but sincerity. He has given us no reason to doubt his reasons or intentions. So I have no hesitation in offering him friend of the pack status.” He turned to Brynn. “Provided you are willing to agree to always work in the pack’s interest, to never betray us or go against us.”

Brynn nodded. “I agree.” He didn’t even hesitate.

Cooper looked at Dusty then Cain. “Thought you would.”

“Shouldn’t we have a vote about this?” Jesse asked.

Cooper frowned at him. “I’m Alpha. I can decide who is given friend of the pack status without advice.”

  “Yeah, but—”

“But nothing, the decision is made.”

“Damn it, I want this stupid plate out!” Dusty moaned. She dropped onto the couch and slammed her fists into the plush cushions.

“You’ve got to be patient, the doctor said it has to stay in a while longer,” Cain replied as he lit the fireplace. The nights were getting chilly now that autumn was turning into winter.

  “I’m sick of being patient.”

Patience was not one of her virtues.

“Dusty, you heard what the doctor said. A few more weeks and they can probably remove it. That’s not that long to wait. You’ve got to rest more. You’re overworking your thigh. Give yourself a break.”

Dusty knew he spoke sense, she could feel the fatigue in her muscles, knew she was doing herself no favors by overexercising. But she was so sick of waiting.

  “It’s too long to wait.”

“Look, I know you want to help us—”

“Don’t patronize me. Of course, I want to help catch these sickos, they tried to kill Laney, and they shot Tina and nearly killed Cassie. I want these bastards so much I can taste it, and I’m going to help catch them, wolf or no wolf.”

“Dusty.” His voice held a warning as he turned. She looked down at him huffily, wishing Brynn were here. He’d be on her side.

But he was in Hell. Hanna had woken two nights after Cooper had locked down the pack. However, her memory was scratchy at best. She couldn’t remember much beyond being captured. So they were moving to plan B. B as in Bait. Marcus was bringing Hanna back the day after tomorrow to introduce her to the pack. Brynn was the ideal bodyguard for someone being used as bait. But remaining invisible for long amounts of time would require a lot of energy.

  “No, he wouldn’t.”

  “What?” she asked.

“Brynn wouldn’t be on your side. I could see what you were thinking. Now suck it up.”

“Suck it up! Suck it up!” She stood, yelling.

He turned, facing her. “That’s it. Get angry at me!”

“What? You want me to yell at you? Are insane?”

“You need to get it all out. You’re full of disappointment and anger, it’s consuming you. You need to get rid of it. Unless you want to get rid of it another way.” His gaze deepened.

She sneered even as her nipples hardened. “I’d rather fight than fuck.”

“Then come on, let me have it.”

“You-you bastard!” She slammed her hands against his chest. Over and over. And he stood there and took it. Oh God, what was she doing? She wasn’t angry at Cain.

Her hands fisted at her sides and it was then that she realized he was right. She was so furious, so—so, God, so disappointed. A tear dripped down her face, and she shuddered as his hands cupped her cheeks.

“It’s okay, darling, let it all out.”

Cain gathered her into his arms as Dusty cried, sobbing openly in his strong arms.

  “What is it? What’s wrong?”

They both jumped, turning to look at Brynn. Dusty wiped her hands over her swollen, tear-ridden eyes, feeling embarrassed at her loss of control.

“N-nothing,” she stuttered as he walked over and cupped her face with his hands, raising it up so she looked straight into his beautiful eyes. “What are you doing here?”

  “I sensed your distress.”

Cain moved to the fireplace, and Dusty shivered as she realized how cold it had grown in the room. The fire had burned down to mere ashes.

“Let me.” Brynn snapped his fingers and flames burned bright and hot.

“Brynn,” she scolded, slapping her hand against his arm. “Save your energy for more important things.”

He grinned at her. “Oh, never fear, I’ve always got energy for that.”

  “Not that.” She smiled back.

“Tell me what the doctor said,” Brynn demanded. “Obviously it wasn’t good.”

“I have to wait a few more weeks.” Dusty sighed. It could have been worse. “I’m being silly. It’s just… I want to be me again.”

“I know, my own.” He hugged her. “I know.”

She turned to look at Cain. “Sorry for acting like a spoilt brat.”

Cain cupped her cheeks, his eyes darkening. “We love you. You hear? You can be obnoxious, as grumpy and as surly as you like. You can cry, yell, scream, and we’ll still love you. All we ask is that you love us back. We’re family. We stick together no matter what.”

“I know that.” She swore she felt her heart cracking. Normally, she’d drown her feelings in alcohol or sex. Dealing with her emotions wasn’t something she was used to.

“I love you both so much,” she said. “Thank you for putting up with me, warts and all.”

Brynn kissed her lips softly as Cain nuzzled the side of her face.

“Everything will work out. Happily ever after, remember?”

  She nodded. “Happily ever after.”

  * * * * *

  “We’ll be there soon. Bye.”

Dusty and Brynn looked at Cain as he hung up the phone. He turned to them, his face tired. They were all exhausted. It had been four days since Brynn had rescued Hanna and it felt as though they’d barely had
any sleep.

“That was Laney. Hanna’s remembered something. We need to get to headquarters.”

Dusty immediately climbed from the bed and grabbed some clothes.

“Does she know who took her?”

“She doesn’t know who they are, but she caught a glimpse of one of their faces. They thought she was out cold. Turns out she’s an artist. Apparently, the picture she drew was remarkable.”

  “And?” Dusty prodded.

“And he was one of Leonard Paterson’s enforcers.”

Leonard. She took a sharp breath. Jesus. The Alpha of the Silverton pack was trying to kill Laney? He’d been Zachary’s friend, and they had suspected him of being involved with Justin’s attack on Laney, but in the end they’d found no proof. He was shifty and untrustworthy, but she hadn’t thought him capable of this.

Ten minutes later, Dusty was still trying to recover from her shock as she took a seat on the sofa at headquarters. Cooper stood in front of the empty fireplace, fury tangible in every hard line of his body.

All the enforcers were present except Marcus. Cooper had decided to keep Hanna away from the pack for now.

She wondered how the poor thing was getting on with Marcus. He was deadly. And blunt. He didn’t suffer fools, and he didn’t believe in social niceties. Poor Hanna. Being holed up with him for days on end couldn’t be much fun.

Laney sat beside Dusty, looking pale and tense. Laney grabbed her hand.

“You feeling okay?” Dusty asked, worried.

Laney nodded. “Just morning sickness.” She laughed, but it wasn’t humorous. “Well, all day sickness. I’m tired. I’ll be fine. I can’t believe that Leonard is behind all this. Cooper wants to confront him, to challenge him.”

“He needs to die.” This came from Cain.

Before Dusty could comment, Reed called for quiet.

“If you haven’t heard by now, Hanna has regained some of her memory. She drew this picture of one of her kidnappers.” He held up a sketched drawing.

“This is Rod Daily, one of the Silverton pack’s enforcers. We’re going to act quickly. Tonight. We’re going to the Silverton pack’s estate to confront Leonard.”
